Welcome Message from the Chairpersons

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of the steering and organizing committees, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Virtual Environments for Measurement Systems and Applications (CIVEMSA 2021), held virtually by the University of Hong Kong, on June 18-19, 2021.

This conference is co-sponsored by the IEEE Computational Intelligence and IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Societies. It focuses on all aspects of computational intelligence, virtual environments and human-computer interaction technologies for measurement systems and related applications. This conference received many papers that highlight standpoints on some latest recent advances to address some critical computational intelligence challenges for intelligent measurement, virtual reality systems, machine & deep learning for intelligent systems, and applications. Additionally, to acknowledge excellence and merit in a conference paper candidate, we will call submissions to a special section in IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we can not be able to meet in person. This virtual event will give an exceptional experience to share your research, ask questions, and communicate with colleagues.

We are looking forward to meeting everyone at the on-line conference in June.

Digital Twin Modeling Of Cancer Patients

In the past decade, we have witnessed widespread applications of artificial intelligence in medicine and health care worldwide, fueled by advances in computational power, development of smart machine learning algorithms, and ever-increasing amount of patient data. How to make sense of and make use of these multiscale and multimodal datasets directly impacts modern health care in terms of disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. In this lecture, we will introduce a novel application of digital twin modeling in cancer research. Specifically, we will talk about the background of digital twin concept, the basic ideas of digital twins of cancer patients, the overall process of digital twin modeling in health care, and some preliminary results on digital twin applications. In addition, we will discuss the potentials, the challenges and barriers involved in the digital twin modeling for cancer research.
